We had the pleasure of attending "Art Night" at our daughter's school tonight. This is an evening where each class displays the projects they have worked on through this week. This includes some of the Art Lit projects such as the Dale Chihuly chandelier, the Korean scrolls on rice paper (<< at left) and the African paper collages inspired by the art of Lois Jones.
We saw the art of all grades including some inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They were so telling. The children were assigned the project of drawing Dr. King and then completing the sentence, "I have a dream..." These children told so much of themselves with their sentences. Some broke our hearts because you know this thought fills their day no matter what they are working on, it all comes back to this thought. Some made us giggle. There were the ones who wanted to say what was expected, a bit of brown-nosing going on and a few who inspired.
We hope you enjoy these works of fine art and fine thought.
