I had the privilege of helping to set up the school auction this morning. I had a lot of fun. I always enjoy spending time with a group of people with a single purpose - to make a difference and just get it done.
The school auction items had the usual gift basket assortment, donated wine, golf clubs, massages, dinner packs, etc. But where this auction shined was with the class projects. I was blown away by the creativity in ideas and the execution.
The bummer is that they are charging $40 each to attend. THEN you bid. Put this price with a babysitter, you're already out $100 without bidding on a single item.
I'm hoping next year they have the dinner price and then they allow anyone to come and bid without eating or offer bidding online. The class projects were truly fantastic.
Over forty people were there helping to set up. There was so much care and planning that went into the event.
Some of the class projects included:
A fused glass room screen divider
2 handmade quilts
Bird bath with ceramic tile piece inlays
A customized game board set with all of the Monopoly pieces reflecting local real estate and the money had photos of the children burnished into wood. It was truly amazing!
A mirror with copper inlay that the children decorated with a burnishing tool
and a list of many more.
