We did the total Seattle tourist thing, including the Duck Tour. It was a blast and we learned more about the city were were spending 48 hours in. The tour aboard the amphibious World War II vehicles included a view of Seattle from both land and water! We had a quick spin through downtown Seattle, Pike Place Market, historic Pioneer Square, Funky Fremont, then, SPLASH into Lake Union for a spectacular view of the city skyline, luxurious yachts, and Sleepless in Seattle Houseboats! We were even given local real estate info. It felt like a living brochure for the city.
The children loved the music and their obligatory "quackers" we purchased. They even nailed us for the posed photo since they did some marvelous work in PhotoShop and we looked GOOD! I would highly recommend this adventure for families and those who enjoy a quick historical overview with a sense of humor. Ride the Ducks website here. My best friend tells me they have this in Miami too.

We came to the quick conclusion on this trip - just go with the easy stuff to do with the children. Less stress. They wanted to do the dopey carnie rides instead of the EMP (Experience Music Program). Fine by us. I previewed the gift shop before committing to the EMP - glad I did. Unless you are really into music history and your children are a bit older, I'd spend the time somewhere else. Our family all enjoys a good museum, but this was a bit too dry for them at this point.
