We let the children choose the activity for Sunday. Their choices were: Seattle Aquarium, EMP, Sci Fi museum or the Science Museum. Hands down - no hesitation - SCIENCE won! We had a friend with us so we all enjoyed this last stop before heading back home. We dropped him at the ferry to go to Bainbridge Island after the museum outing.

We did the total Seattle tourist thing, including the Duck Tour. It was a blast and we learned more about the city were were spending 48 hours in. The tour aboard the amphibious World War II vehicles included a view of Seattle from both land and water! We had a quick spin through downtown Seattle, Pike Place Market, historic Pioneer Square, Funky Fremont, then, SPLASH into Lake Union for a spectacular view of the city skyline, luxurious yachts, and Sleepless in Seattle Houseboats! We were even given local real estate info. It felt like a living brochure for the city.

We had fun being tourists in Seattle this past weekend. One of the favorite spots was the Olympic Sculpture Park - part of Seattle Art Musuem. I love the public art rules up there. Here are a few of the favorites.

When you go indy for your films, you never know what you'll end up with, or end up enjoying. Wristcutters: A Love Story was a movie we enjoyed. The title grabbed us. Something for both of us - love and death/suicide. The movie is definitely a black comedy with a happy ending. I really enjoyed it. It was perfectly cast and beautifully acted. It was touching, dark and pleasant all blended together.

Our son was busy sculpting. He doesn't like to limit himself to just one type of material. This took him a while to get each element just right. He wanted to know if I liked all of the different 'feeling' in the sculpture. I told him, of course, that I loved it and how artistic he is.

Today was Art Lit at our daughter's school. I was privileged to give the lecture and help with the project.
We studied the art of Paul Klee (1879 - 1940). He is quoted as saying, "Color possesses me. I do not have to pursue it, it will possess me always. I know it. That is the meaning of the happy hour: color and I are one, I am a painter." Not quite sure about the happy hour part, but I get it.

A friend of ours is moving soon. She has two children and they are taking it well. They are 6 and 4. The biggest uestion they had was, "Do we get to take the pets?"
The answer was, "Of course."
Further probing from the boy was, "Even the fish?"
"Of course, the fish too." was the reply.

My brother came to visit and I wanted to bake him a special treat with his favorite flavors. I had to skip one of his favorites - raisins - for this recipe. These cookies gave him "big eyes" and a big "ooooooo!" They were definitely a hit. Chocolate, peanut butter and almond meal cookies.

For those of you who don't know -- OCD should really be CDO - alphabetical order.
My brother came to visit for dinner last night. I love my brother dearly. As the evening went on the subject of music, iPods and the like came up. We compared notes on how we three adults organize our music. My husband just... marveled... perhaps that isn't the word. Maybe was a bit freaked out by the fact that my brother and I who, although we get along great, we don't visit about personal styles too often, organize our music the same way. Our songs are in alphabetical order by song title on our iPods. My husband is more of an album or artist sorter.

My husband is a big Rolling Stones fan. Right now concerts are out of the question with any type of decent seats. Martin Scorsese gave us a great solution with the IMAX presentation of, "Shine a Light." WHAT A BLAST!
The music was fantastic, the entire presentation was so enjoyable I smiled a big open grin through the entire thing. We were surprised how few people were in the theater with us, even though it was a matinee, there were fewer than 30 people.
