We let the children choose the activity for Sunday. Their choices were: Seattle Aquarium, EMP, Sci Fi museum or the Science Museum. Hands down - no hesitation - SCIENCE won! We had a friend with us so we all enjoyed this last stop before heading back home. We dropped him at the ferry to go to Bainbridge Island after the museum outing.
From the moment they walked through the doors, the children were engaged, exploring and asking questions. Our son cried when we left. He wanted to do it all again. That says a lot for this museum.
The first thing I did was don a Luna Moth costume and stand in front of a blue screen. We took turns as various animals. The children were climbing some tree structure as woodland creatures.
Being silly was the order of the day. We all obeyed!
Hands-on simple experiments and explanations to every day happenings were peppered throughout leading to the highlight for our son, the butterfly exhibit. I personally liked all of the bug cases.
This was a great way to spend three hours. Bring snacks to enjoy outside in between. There wasn't a lot there other than Pop-Rocks in the gift shop. Water too, unless you're a big fan of drinking fountains.
The outdoor fountains were fun. We had to hold tight to keep our son from joining the dinos in the water.
