The day started at 7:00, 68 degrees. It warmed up quickly. We had a bit of time to enjoy the backyard filled with the scent of lilacs. Each Spring I look forward to seeing how many sprays of lilacs are preparing to burst open on the perfect day - usually around Mother's Day. It was one of my storybook mornings.
Our daughter had breakfast outside and I joined her with my coffee. Soon we were joined by my husband, the parakeet and the newspaper. The youngest potty trained member was still snoozing.
We put together lilac bouquets for friends, neighbors and teachers. The entire house has the sweet fragrance filling the air.
At it reached 98 today, I was grateful that I'm not 100% green. Working from home without AC on days like this -- Uh - NO WAY!
The children enjoyed the hose, shade from the trees and Popsicles. I was forced to take a three hour break from work because Comcast had an outage in our neighborhood - no phones, no Internet, no cable. It was time to go outside and enjoy watching the children play.
Truly a storybook day.
