As a parent I'm subjected to more than my share of kid movies. Many of them are dogs. This one was, but in a good way. Beverly Hills Chihuahua was a lot of fun. It was a bit slow starting out for us adults, but then we just sat back and had a lot of fun. The children - we took three - were dancing in their aisle and laughing throughout the movie.
Drew Barrymore was endearing and convincing. We enjoy all of her movies. George Lopez once again proves he's more than a stand-up comic. He did a great job as "Papi." The 6, 7 and 3 year-old were comparing his performance in this movie to that in, "Shark Boy and Lava Girl." It was pretty funny because he was human in one and a dog in the other.
We're glad we took them all. It was a birthday celebration adventure so we snacked up throwing candy budget to the wind. I would recommend this to any family, child and teens looking for a silly good time. The dogs were so much fun to see especially in Chihuahua, Mexico. Being Papillon owners, we did see a few of our butterfly dogs mixed in to the bunch. I guess it's like getting Mexicans to portray American Indians and Anglos for Asians - just cast who's available and hope no one will notice. ;)
