We celebrated the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels today. What better way than with the movie, "Michael." Other than one 30 second part I wasn't ready to explain to our nearly-seven-year-old, it was a great movie. We laughed, cried and danced throughout the movie. It also had the required happy ending. Even though Michael was an Archangel - I missed that knowledge by a few days and that special day by a few as well. Oops.
John Travolta remains one of my favorite current actors. He's versatile and even when evil in a role, he's still a bit endearing. This movie had him shine. Of course, he had to dance.
You can't watch this movie and ever say the word, "pie" the same again. Also cookies will take on a whole new meaning in your house.
I don't know a lot about Guardian Angels, but since we accidentally celebrated Archangels today we'll talk about that. Catholics have a variety of days we celebrate the lives of saints, angels and the Holy Family. It's what we do. Our children are particularly fascinated by angels. There are tons of angel sites, but this seemed to put each of their personalities in a nutshell. It also covers the three that are celebrated today:
I liked this site too, even though the flashing stars are a bit over the top, the info was easy to read:

The liturgy for today celebrates the feast of the three archangels who have been venerated throughout the history of the Church, Michael (from the Hebrew Who is like God?) is the archangel who defends the friends of God against Satan and all his evil angels. Gabriel, (the Power of God), is chosen by the Creator to announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation. Raphael, (the Medicine of God), is the archangel who takes care of Tobias on his journey.

Unlike the other of the above blog, we DID enjoy angelfood cake today with fresh whipped cream and fresh Unger Farms strawberries. We had such the Catholic lenten dinner of fish sticks and then watched, "Michael" -- in that order.
