Some are losing faith in our youth and their ability to carry themselves in social situations that involve people over 40. Don't despair. I had my faith renewed tonight while having the honor to help some Daisy Scouts earn their first Brownie patch.
The girls will be "bridging" to become Brownies in June. They had to choose one project from the Brownie book. We parents decided manners would be a good start. We were all pleasantly surprised.
We used a favorite manners book, "Miss Prudence Pennypack's Perfectly Proper Book."
From this source, the price is very reasonable.
The girls practiced dinner manners including: setting the table, all about napkins, eating quietly, how to cut, how to ask to be excused and clean up. They did FANTASTIC!
When they were finished all of the parents agreed that there are many a teen through 20-something that would benefit from this easy reading. How do you slip it into their stack of Wii games?
Pick it up - it can't hurt.
