We have turned the corner; and it was a beautiful day to do it. We rigged up our son's tiny bike with a PVC pole out the back so I could help him on hills and he now can get all the way to our neighborhood park - a 2 mile round trip! Finally! No more strollers, joggers or other parent-pushed equipment. He is kid-powered. He and I let the older ones ride ahead and I walked VERY quickly to keep up. An hour at the park and home again, home again, jiggety jig.
It was such an amazingly beautiful day. We are still running in and out the door to enjoy every minute of sun. The streets and yards are filled with children racing all around as if they were just cut loose after being tethered for months. I counted at least 10 people out mowing their lawns in celebration of the bright and breezy day.
My husband made the wonderful offer to take us to our favorite fish house, Corbett's Fish House in PDX. I couldn't bring myself to get in a car and sit inside a restaurant and wait for food. We opted to walk down the street and pick up Burgerville to-go. We all ate out in the front. The children had a picnic with a friend and Tom and I enjoyed the courtyard while they played. Perfect end to a great week.
This is a great start to Mother's Day weekend. I hope you are all taking the time to appreciate the beauty in small moments this weekend.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
My plan? More additions to the fairy garden, paint swatches for the ouside, more walks, coffee with my husband and the AirPlay Cafe Sunday night for an 80's dance party with the children! Woo hoo! Hopefully my son wasn't bluffing about the cake that he wants to make for me for Sunday. That would indeed make it a perfect weekend!
