That said, I would not have lasted another 15 minutes. I have short threshold for events with many children other than my own. Wheels Day involves all children bringing their favorite vehicle to ride. This included a Spiderman Big Wheel, 1 Disney plastic scooter, 2 Razors, 2 Radio Flyer tricycles and an assortment of bikes donning training wheels of assorted quality.
Wee Wisdom Preschool has been carrying on this tradition for nearly three decades. Yes, the same preschool and same preschool director has been around that long! Mrs. Barbara Boyd is AMAZING.
There were four moms there who had Mrs. Boyd for their preschool teacher and two others who played with Teacher Boyd's children. That says a lot about this school and her abilities. The rest of her staff is equally amazing.
These 18 or so children rode around an oval track for nearly and hour and a half. As they grew tired and bored, they were able to move on to the washing stations to wash off their vehicles and then pump "gas" into them or air in the tires. Didn't really matter.
There was a parent for nearly every child on this special annual wheel festival day. We were all needed. It was a riot watching them negotiate turns, each other and every bump on the course.
Mrs. Boyd even found herself as the repair station as one little speed demon threw a pedal.
The end of the event was celebrated with a huge case of all you could eat Otter Pops! What could be better. Our son sucked down three.
I enjoyed making my son happy by staying for the whole session. I also enjoyed meeting the moms of some of his favorite friends. I can see why he likes them - their moms are fun, too. There were a few that were not a... match for my sense of humor, but all in all it was a great morning.
