Our son is five tomorrow. He's also into snakes. He didn't ask for anything for his birthday other than a visit to Reptile World and an Albino Burmese Python birthday cake. You heard me. It's all he asked for; of course I made it for him. Hear me out:
2 cakes mixes - make them into four round layers or three and some cupcakes.
2 cans frosting
1 package of rainbow licorice to get the yellow ones - then split them
crushed Lemonheads with the assistance of a small hammer and Ziploc baggie
Bake the cakes according to recipe. Cool. Find something to cut a ring out of the middle with - plastic container works fine. Lift it out. You need two to stack for the head in a bit.
You want four layers to be able to create the coil.
Frost each ring at a time. Join the next ring and frost. I placed the cut, split strips of yellow as the stripes and accented with crushed and whole Lemonheads.
Keep going, keep going. Add juice of 1/2 lemon to frosting if you want - makes it much easier to spread.
Head: Red licorice cut like a forked tongue, dap of green dots for eyes, 2 chips for nostrils and pupils.
