Injured by toast.

The price of flour has gone up so much that a $3.50 loaf of artisan breads is now 30% smaller.  I'm not wasting any of it.  Because it doesn't last long, the final third of of the loaf is usually getting stiff by day 3.  I give it one last opportunity to be tasty by nuking it for 40 seconds.  This is a one shot deal.  You can do it one time and then it becomes leather.  It is also only good for toast or croutons at this point.

I heard this story this evening. 
"You look hungry - yes you do.
I can feed you.
Here, I have something you might like.
It's orange and skinny.
Here - eat it.
OK - now chew.  Chew.  CHEW IT!
There, you like it.
I see it in your tummy.

Seattle Science Museum - a better choice

We let the children choose the activity for Sunday.  Their choices were:  Seattle Aquarium, EMP, Sci Fi museum or the Science Museum.  Hands down - no hesitation - SCIENCE won!  We had a friend with us so we all enjoyed this last stop before heading back home.  We dropped him at the ferry to go to Bainbridge Island after the museum outing.

Even though it's Easter, sometimes it's not good to smell hard-boiled eggs.

Ah Spring!  The flowers are blooming in the neighborhood, little animals emerging - well not all of them are emerging.  Sometimes class projects don't go so great.

Mammogram call-back - I didn't realize how much it was weighing on me.

I'm enjoying a glass of wine after a boo-boo cupcake.  I didn't sleep last night.  Today I went through my first mammogram call-back.  I've never had a call-back to the doctor for anything other than pregnancies and this one worried me more than I thought.

Healthier Lemon Garlic Shrimp

Most of the time I lack an idea for dinner.  It's the question we dread each night, "What should we brew up for dinner?" or any of its variations.  Tonight our daughter suggested her new favorite dish, "plain shrimp with lemon and garlic."

I hit the "send" button too fast.

Just as it is impossible to truly retract something after you hit the "send" button, it is true in this application as well.
